The Syrian Voice is a news website that specializes in conveying the impact of the Syrian war on civilians’ lives, while giving less importance to day-to-day military developments.
The Syrian Voice uses information gathered by field reporters across the country’s 14 provinces to paint a picture of civilians’ daily lives. It publishes in English, Arabic and German in order to convey its message to the largest number of readers.
The idea for this website developed after Arabic and international news outlets began to devote the lion’s share of their Syria coverage to battles and territorial gains. Meanwhile, there were few media institutions that were interested first and foremost in ordinary people, although the Syrian revolution came about for the sake of those people.
In short, the Syrian Voice strives to monitor and convey developments that have gone under the radar of news outlets covering Syria, with the goal of presenting a wider, more complete image of the conflict.
